The Great White Wall
When a climber sustained life threatening injuries on the wall, the Black Canyon SAR Team raced against time to save her life.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison SAR received $25,000 and will be using their grant over two years for team training, instructional seminars, gear for members, and safety messaging in the park to help prevent future accidents.
Each team received $10,000 to use towards purchasing equipment or team training
Baker County Sheriff Search and Rescue is made up of trained volunteers who donate their time and personal equipment to respond to emergencies throughout the county. Their team used their grant toward technical ropes training for their team as well as replacing outdated equipment.

Larimer County Search and Rescue
Formed in 1979, Larimer County Search and Rescue responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Members donate their time, money, energy, and personal equipment in order to rescue individuals in need and educate the public on outdoor safety. For funding, the team relies on donations from individuals, grants, and fundraising events. Read their story here.

Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue
The LVMPD Search and Rescue Unit was formed in 1986 to provide a technical rescue service to the community of Las Vegas, NV. The unit operates by combining several highly specialized groups including: police officers, helicopter support, and more than 50 unpaid rescue volunteers. They are on call 24 hours a day and respond to over 8,000 square miles of mountainous desert terrain. Read their story here.

Ouray Mountain Rescue
The Ouray Mountain Rescue Team was formed in 1974 as a non-profit organization to serve the technical rescue and emergency medical service needs of Ouray County. The team is made up entirely of volunteers and all financial support comes from fundraising events, merchandise sales, donations and grants. Read their story here.

Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue
The Tahoe Nordic SAR team was formed in 1976 and is a made up of volunteer EMTs, emergency room doctors and nurses, firefighters, ski patrollers, paramedics, and experienced backcountry skiers and snowmobilers who donate their time to help others. The organization’s mission remains the same as it did on day one: conduct fast and safe rescues and educate the public on winter safety. Read their story here.
