Mountain Radio Kit - 2 Radios
This Mountain Radio kit includes two award-winning, license-free Mountain Radios, designed and tested in the Colorado Rockies. Created with climbers and skiers in mind, this compact and durable radio is ready for any adventure where communication is critical.
A specialized lithium-ion battery delivers 3–5 days of life, even in extreme cold. For durability, the radio features a shatterproof LED screen, a tough thermoplastic covering, and a secure carabiner + back-up leash system—far stronger than the fragile plastic clips found on other radios.
The Mountain Radio transmits at the maximum power allowed without a license (2 watts), with a tested max range of 35+ miles—though 1–5 miles is typical in backcountry terrain. For more info on range, please see our range testing video or blog post.
Simple and reliable, the Mountain Radio works right out of the box with zero setup required. Its 5 intuitive buttons and quick privacy code access make communication easy and interference-free.
- Compatible with our Waterproof Hand Mic and Acoustic Headset
Like all Rocky Talkie products, the Mountain Radio Kit is backed by our commitment to sustainability and 3 year warranty for personal use, and 1 year warranty for commercial use.

Purchased a set for my wife to utilize while walking our dog, who weighs as much as she does and is much stronger. Low intensity I know, but handier than a phone in an emergency.

Used this in Yosemite to coordinate between friends, we managed a connection from the top of Vernal Falls back to the campground -- pretty incredible. Background lasted for the entire 2 day stint we were there and still around 50%. We connected with our buddies non-RockyTalkie's just fine. Not sure what else I could want.
