The Rocky Talkie Mountain Radio EU is our award-winning license-free radio, operating on PMR446 frequencies for use across Europe. Built with climbers and skiers in mind, this compact and durable radio is ready for any adventure where communication is critical.
A specialized lithium-ion battery delivers 3–5 days of life, even in extreme cold. For durability, the radio features a shatterproof LED screen, a tough thermoplastic covering, and a secure carabiner + back-up leash system—far stronger than fragile plastic clips found on other radios.
Operating on the 446.0–446.2 MHz UHF band, the Mountain Radio EU transmits at the maximum power allowed without a license (0.5 watts). The radio has a tested max line-of-sight range of 40+ kilometers—though 1–5 km is typical in mountain terrain.
Simple and reliable, the Mountain Radio works right out of the box with zero setup required. Its five intuitive buttons and quick privacy code access make communication effortless and interference-free.
The Mountain Radio is compatible with our Waterproof Hand Mic and Acoustic Headset for convenient and accessible communication in any environment.

I´m more than stoked ROCKIE TALKIE radios are now available in the alps. (Europe) Where I spent the most time doing what I do! For me having a radio, no matter which adventure or activity I´m doing, is key for a clear communication on the mountain with my partner and team! While skiing, paragliding or climbing it avoids misunderstandings and therefore it generates better team work and decision making!

Having a radio on the mountain is worth every penny. It’s a gamechanger for sure. And this is just a very trustworthy radio. No faff, it just always works. Still haven’t charged them after maybe 6 days of climbing

Being out of touch with your climbing partner definitely introduces the opportunity for mistakes. I have climbed near running water and roads making verbal communication difficult or impossible. After hearing how a friend's family member fell 20M (miraculously surviving with minor injuries) following a misunderstanding concerning being on-belay, I decided a walky-talky would be useful and chose the Rocky-Talkie. I have been surprise by the clarity of the device. Often I don't even need to unclip it from my harness and my partner can hear clearly what I am saying. A far cry from the gear available a few years ago. The level of extra safety and confidence the device offers adds so much to a climb. Feeding-back to your belayer concerning progress makes many climbs so much more engaging. Also, with such a long battery life, us weekend warrior don't need to bother with charges and batteries. In other words, this is a really useful bit of kit that improves safety, confidence and enjoyment. In time, these devices will come to be considered basic safety equipment. It's a no brainer....

I love these radios. They cost a bit more but I feel confident in the customer service and I also love the unique design. They are so simple to use and feel so robust and well built. The voice clarity is perfect and I am so pleased with them. I could not ask for a better handheld radio for my personal use in the outdoors.
