I added some purple threadlock to the female threads, because I could, and felt better about it, not because of anything to do with Rocky Talkie, but past experiences with totally different equipment. Beyond that I prefer the bit of play in the connection to the carabiner, because unlike their OG radio it helps make it easier to use when attached to a should strap. The OG radio to carabiner connection was super stiff, and in some situations didn't go with the flow. The carabiner itself has a good auto-locking action, and I don't see any safety related reason to replace it, If for any reason I was worried about it coming open in whitewater, I'd sooner tape the nose/lock than swap it before silt/sand required it to be retired. Definitely a safe pick for whitewater environments and beyond.

Used it in Class IV whitewater any many activities far less demanding of people and equipment.
