This Expedition Radio Kit pairs two powerful 5-watt GMRS radios with two discreet Acoustic Headsets.
The Expedition Radio is hand-tested to IP67 waterproofing standards (1 meter submersion) and designed with protective rubber padding and a shatterproof LED screen. A specialized 1800 mAh battery provides 4–6 days of use per charge, even in frigid conditions. With 5 watts of power—the maximum allowed for handheld GMRS radios—the radio delivers extended range up to 35+ miles (typically 2–8 miles in mountain terrain).
The Acoustic Headset for Expedition Radio is a surveillance-style, low-profile wired headset that delivers enhanced comms in the field and is perfect for hunting, working events, or on a production set. Featuring an upgraded in-line driver and braided nylon acoustic tube with an abrasion-resistant cable, you can expect clear audio in a durable, comfortable package with a convenient mounting clip to keep your push-to-talk (PTT) button and mic within reach. The included Fit Kit provides four interchangeable eartip options to dial in ambient noise levels and comfort, all of which stow easily in the travel case.
Like all Rocky Talkie products, the Expedition Radio Kit is backed by our commitment to sustainability and 3 year warranty for personal use, and 1 year warranty for commercial use.

I have had clients bring these radios to courses and in canyons and have had my hands on one or two in the past and one of my guides has a set we have used. I decided that it was time to get a pair of them for our guide trips and training courses instead of relying on cheap radios we have used in the past. I needed something that would reach out and touch the other guides we are working with. These radios did not disappoint. We worked through nefarious weather situations and ended up swimming and climbing in and out of potholes and having long rappel drops throughout the canyons. My guide and I decided to test these out even more than we normally would have and see what they could hold up to. They performed flawlessly. The water resistance didn't fail in the potholes and in the rain and the communication throughout the canyon and in the narrow sections was perfect. We never lost track of each other for a change and were able to communicate from the front of the group to the back as well as up and down the rappel drops. I should have pulled the trigger on these radios a long time ago. Looking forward to testing out the headset units now in the upcoming hunting season.

We purchased two for work communication. A couple weeks later ordered two more. Long battery life, reliable range of 2-3 miles. Clear speaker and outside noise is almost nonexistent.

Just got back from 19 days in the mountains elk hunting. I got the chance to use my Rocky Talkie almost daily. The range and clarity of this radio is exceptional . Easy to use and excellent battery life. The ability to get clear NOAA weather reports was also very helpful. I’ve used multiple “lesser” radios in the past and the Rocky Talkie is definitely a step up. Thanks for making a such a quality product.

Bought two of the Rocky Talkie Expedition Radios for family outdoor trips (i.e., fishing and hunting). Most of the locations we are in have no cellphone service and we want to keep communication for safety. My first outing with them was fly fishing on the Pecos River. They worked perfect and we were able to check in on each other regularly. The radios had outstanding clarity and great battery life. I am looking to buy two more. Well worth it!
