This Expedition Radio Kit combines two powerful 5-watt GMRS radios with two versatile Waterproof Hand Mics—built for all-weather communication in the backcountry.
The Expedition Radio is hand-tested to IP67 waterproofing standards (1 meter submersion) and designed with protective rubber padding and a shatterproof LED screen. A specialized 1800 mAh battery provides 4–6 days of use per charge, even in frigid conditions. With 5 watts of power—the maximum allowed for handheld GMRS radios—the radio delivers extended range up to 35+ miles (typically 2–8 miles in mountain terrain).
The Waterproof Hand Mic makes communication faster and more convenient. Clip it to your pack strap for shoulder-level access to a built-in mic, speaker, and push-to-talk button. The hand mic is IP67 waterproof, glove-friendly, and designed to reduce wind noise while delivering loud, clear audio in challenging conditions.

The Expedition Radios include two antennas: a compact 7.5cm antenna installed, plus a 17cm antenna for moderately increased range and improved weather channel reception. Additional features include NOAA weather alerts, dual-channel monitoring, and 8 repeater channels for extended communication.

Just got back from 19 days in the mountains elk hunting. I got the chance to use my Rocky Talkie almost daily. The range and clarity of this radio is exceptional . Easy to use and excellent battery life. The ability to get clear NOAA weather reports was also very helpful. I’ve used multiple “lesser” radios in the past and the Rocky Talkie is definitely a step up. Thanks for making a such a quality product.

Bought two of the Rocky Talkie Expedition Radios for family outdoor trips (i.e., fishing and hunting). Most of the locations we are in have no cellphone service and we want to keep communication for safety. My first outing with them was fly fishing on the Pecos River. They worked perfect and we were able to check in on each other regularly. The radios had outstanding clarity and great battery life. I am looking to buy two more. Well worth it!

Generally I don’t leave reviews - but I was on the fence about being these for a while before I pulled the trigger so I hope it helps someone do the same . I hunt the Adirondacks in NY with a group of guys - we generally hunt lowland swamp areas between mountains . I have never had a day of radios actually pick up signal with any regularity .
We took these out on a hunt for the black powder opener . We only got to stretch them about .7 miles straight line distance - but between the woods and both of us being down in a different swamp hole we could hear each other . Not only could we hear - it was clear - this was with the smallest antenna it comes with .
The gator clip is solid and the leash is great , I got the carabiner as well which I think for my use case isn’t necessary but those are solid too .
If I lost these tomorrow on a boating accident I’d buy another pair to replace them - solid product , easy to use , cost is high but the quality is there . If you generally are a person that prefers to buy the good one once - this is it .

Tested these out at a summer camp that we need reliable communication at and these exceeded expectations!!! The second a tree stood in our way with our old walkie talkies; we lost all communication. The Expedition Radio worked sooo well in buildings and across the whole camp site. Can't wait to fully use them next summer.
