Please note - each radio is sold individually

The Rocky Talkie Mountain Radio is our award winning license-free radio designed and tested in the Colorado Rockies. Created with climbers and skiers in mind, the compact radio is suited for any rugged adventure where communication is critical.

A specialized lithium-ion battery provides over 4 days of battery life, even in very cold conditions (-20°F). For enhanced durability, the radio has a shatterproof LED screen and thermoplastic protective covering. Unlike the fragile plastic clips of other radios, the Mountain Radio easily secures to backpacks and harnesses using an ultra-light carabiner and back-up leash.

The radio transmits the maximum power legally allowed for use without a license (2-watts). The max range is over 35 miles, however, 1 to 5 miles is more typical in backcountry terrain. For more info on range, please see our range testing video or blog post.

The Mountain Radio is ready to use out of the box and requires zero configuration. The electronics are simple and reliable - the radio has 5 buttons that are easy to understand while still supporting the critical advanced features (such as privacy codes to prevent outside interference).

Compatible with our Waterproof Hand Mic!

The one radio to rule them all

I’ve been rocking the rockies for close to 2 years now, i’ve had them completely iced over in the middle of winter ice climbing, used them for multipitches where the highway and train make normal communication near impossible and taken them on multi day trips where power and charging hasnt been an issue.

I’m always shocked at how the battery holds up in -30 rockies winters

The design of the rockie talkies is perfect for swinging around on a harness or backpack strap without manipulating the radio volume or channels like other radios commonly do.

The reliability of them has been awesome, i came across one small issue with one of my radios and the team at rockie talkies had it sorted pretty much on the spot. 10/10 radio, 10/10 customer service

    Perfect solution!

These are awesome. Our 5 year old loved using it at family camp to keep in touch but maintain some independence. The range and battery life are great. No complaints, totally worth the investment!

Tried cheap; these are worth it.

Tried cheap walkie talkies for climbing. Was a mistake. These are great. Wish I bought them sooner.

    Won't go without one again

For the last several years we've gone and worked cattle in NW Oklahoma. We are in rugged terrain on the New Mexico state line just south of the Black Mesa. There is no cell phone reception where we camp. When we gather cattle we split up and cover everything from mesas to draws. These radios helped us stay in touch with help and we were able to guide them to different locations. They were used to gather cattle that could be seen up top and check in with others. When I seen cattle I would use it to guide people to the cattle and we were able to gather them. We will not be without one ever again.
