We did a 5-day stock-supported backpacking trip with my family and a friend. Our friend was traveling at a different pace with her horses than we were with our kids, so we were often 3 to 4 miles apart. The Rocky Talkies she brought allowed us to stay in communication throughout the trip, which made everything much safer and the logistics much easier. After the trip, we immediately bought our own! Were looking forward to using them on the ski hill and hunting.

Just field-tested these on a multipitch day in Boulder Canyon. Simply outstanding performance in every way. Easy to use, crisp and clear audio, could easily use from either gear loop on harness or shoulder strap of pack - neither affected clarity. And TOUGH - took some abuse, squeeze chimney and some gnarly belly sliding/down-climbing on the descent, radios didn't flinch.

Worth noting that these have rated carabiners - maybe an obvious feature, but not one I take for granted. A lot of manufacturers nickel and dime stuff like that. Trango Quantums are legit - a very nice touch that I appreciate. And a tether for added security just piles on the love.

My buddy I was climbing with thought they were awesome, wondered how he ever climbed without them, and is going to buy a set for himself.

My brother found these radios last year and now our whole family has them. Yesterday, we used them to help coordinate a backcountry rescue operation where one of our hikers broke an ankle and needed a helicopter extraction. These radios performed better than the Baofengs the first responders were using, with clear communication several miles apart with rough terrain in between. I’ve already bought another and plan on buying more.

We use these on prescribed burns where communication is not Helpful it is necessary. The Rockies out performed cheap box store radios on a 100 acre burn in rough terrain. The cheap radios were constantly saying "Can you hear me?" One guy dropped his in the fire and burned it up. This is another reason i like the leash on the Rockie. Those people are going to trash the rest of the cheap ones and buy some Rockie Talkee. The Key Mic is the best key mic on the market. It is equally clear both ways with the mic and without.
