Director of Operations

Location: Remote (Denver, Colorado preferred)

Salary: $140,000-$180,000 per year (range based on experience, equity package, and location) + end of year performance based bonus

4 weeks paid vacation

The Role

Rocky Talkie is seeking a passionate, tech-driven operations professional to join our leadership team and help take our rapidly growing business to the next level. In this role, you would be the first director level leader of our Operations department (one of the three primary pillars of our org structure alongside Marketing and Product). You would lead the charge in managing our existing operations and implement new systems and processes to streamline work throughout the business. Your vision and leadership will be critical to support our rapid growth domestically and our expansion into new international markets in 2025. Our Company

Rocky Talkie launched in late 2019 with its flagship Mountain Radio made for climbers and skiers to communicate in the backcountry. Since then, we have grown to be well known in the adventure sports industry, with two best in class radios and a rapidly growing base of happy customers (see product reviews here, and here). We have a passionate and highly motivated team of 18 who are stoked to continue changing the radio industry for the better. We currently sell in the USA and Canada and have additional international expansion plans in the works.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain Management: Manage our end-to-end supply chain and inventory tracking
    • Planning & Purchasing: lead the process to forecast, place and coordinate orders from our existing suppliers
    • Quality Assurance: manage the work of our international and Denver based quality assurance teams to ensure product quality
    • Inbound Logistics: manage incoming shipments to our warehouse in Denver and to international warehouses in the future
    • E-Commerce Inventory Management: manage e-commerce operations (inventory levels, SKUs, API connections, etc.) and maintain close communications with other departments.
    • Order Fulfillment: manage customer shipments made by our third party fulfillment and shipping partners
  • Systems Strategy & Implementation: Implement tools for streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency across the business. For example, automate returns, implement a platform for purchases from wholesale partners, optimize systems to streamline our excellent customer service, etc.
  • Management & Hiring: Lead our existing operations team members (Quality Assurance, Project Management, Wholesale, etc.) and help bring on critical new members to round-out the department.
  • International Expansion: Help bring Rocky Talkie to additional international markets by leading our global operations strategy.
  • Wholesale Expansion: Lead strategy for our growing wholesale program and manage the member of our team who runs the day to day.
  • Compliance Management: Manage efforts to remain compliant with international trade regulations and tax laws.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and address risks to minimize disruptions and losses.


      • 7-15 years of operations experience with at least 2 years of leadership / management experience
      • Experience working with a rapidly growing e-commerce small business
      • A high level of energy and focus for taking Rocky Talkie to the next level
      • Inventory management software program experience, Cin 7 is preferred
      • Experience with e-commerce platforms, Shopify is preferred
      • Experience with international operations
      • High aptitude and proven track record for implementing critical systems to optimize business efficiency
      • Great communication skills
